Barbara Nance Artist

Barbara’s artwork has been exhibited in galleries, and has appeared in film and on TV, business logos, comic books, wine labels, clothes, prints and other merchandise. Nance captivates her audience with her warm and whimsical characters. Her vision has been praised as “feel good art that lifts the spirits.” One critic sees her as “ a modern day Renaissance woman, a rare mixture of talent, skill, imagination, and passion.”

“I’ve been blessed with a great gift” Nance says, “and it’s my privilege to honor and share all I can to bring light and laughter to the world.”

Nance enjoyed over twenty years as a professional illustrator and cartoonist in the Los Angeles. She went on to manage a gallery in Los Olivos, CA for the next fourteen years, while being represented in several coastal galleries.

In 2005 she moved to New Mexico with her husband and dogs after being inspired by the land of enchantment. Nance settled into her desert studio near Silver City and continues to tell stories through art.

Recently, she built “Stonewalker Studio & Gallery” on her property, an inviting adobe casita that is open by appointment. Her outdoor sculpture walk is in its early stages and will feature her larger steel sculptures that are collaborations with her husband Sherwood. Many of these creations are made from recycled materials. Nance sculpts in stone, wood and steel. Her paintings are mixed aqua medium.
